NEWS: Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Announces Birth of Baby Gorilla

There’s not much we enjoy more than baby animal news. And while it’s not a big cat (our favorite), we’re delighted to hear that the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has yet another newborn. On October 26, its west lowland gorillas Nneka (mom) and Mokolo (dad) gave birth to a baby boy, the first one ever in the zoo’s 139-year history. The baby weights about three pounds, and will nurse for about three years.

Visitors will be able to see zoo’s entire cohort of gorillas, including the baby, at the Primate, Cat & Aquatics building every day from 11am-3pm. The zoo will be posting video updates on the baby and will soon have a public naming contest for him. Learn more at clevelandmetroparks.com/news.
