The High School Rock Off started as an event to fill dates at the Odeon and later the House of Blues during the post-Christmas touring lull. When it launched 25 years ago, there weren’t that many teens playing music; that’s changed in a major way.
The event was last held in 2020 with its finals getting in just under the wire, before the shutdown. That was its 24thanniversary so this year, despite the gap, qualifies as its 25th. And as in recent years, the semis and “final exam” will take place at the Rock Hall, giving young bands and musicians the chance to perform on its big lobby stage in front of family and friends.
The time to submit is NOW though. Musician must be in 12th grade or lower; artists may be bands or solo acts, playing any genre of music. Submission deadline is Friday December 12. Go here for complete information and an application.
