Convergence-Continuum Explores the Entrapment of Gay Men in 1914

Fri 12/3-Sat 12/18

Convergence-continuum’s next production, Tom Jacobson’s The 20th Century Way, deals with a difficult and fraught history: the deliberate entrapment of gay men at a time. Taking place in California in 1914, it’s based on a true story of a pair of actors hired by the Long Beach Police Department to lure gay men in public restrooms, leading to the arrest of 31 men and the passage of an ordinance against “oral sodomy.”

Keith Kornajcik and Michael Prosen are the two-man cast as the actors in the play explore the multiple layers and contradictions of what they’ve been hired to do. C-c’s Clyde Simon directs. The 20th Century Way runs from Friday December 3 through Saturday December 18, Thursdays-Saturdays @ 8pm. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Proof of vaccination or a recent negative test and masks are required.
