Sustainable Cleveland Summit Returns, Again Virtually

Wed 10/20-Thu 10/21

Back in 2009, the city of Cleveland and Mayor Frank Jackson launched the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 initiative to engage citizens in exploring different ways to make the city more environmentally friendly. Each year had a different theme, such as energy efficiency, local food, vibrant green space and clean water, culminating in a fall summit where participants assessed the year’s successes and brainstormed ideas for the upcoming year.

The final summit should’ve technically been in 2019 but the ball was rolling and the work went on. Last year’s summit was, naturally virtual, with Jackson offering remarks, a progress report, keynote speakers, awards, networking and panel discussions.

This year’s summit, hosted by the Cleveland Public Library, will again be (sigh) virtual. Jackson will again deliver remarks, his last celebrating one of his bigger successes as mayor. Cleveland’s Sustainability chief Jason Wood will give the progress report, and Clarence E. Anthony, CEO/executive director of the National League of Cities, will deliver the keynote address.
