No Exit New Music Presents Sax Duo in an Evening of Music by Young Composers

Sat 10/23 @ 8PM

Cleveland’s No Exit New Music not only presents programs of new pieces performed by its own ensemble, it hosts adventurous musicians outside their own circle as well.

This week it’s showcasing a Cleveland-based duo called Ogni Suono, where both members — Noa Even and Phil Pierick — play saxophone. Together 11 years, they’ve toured extensively, playing many new music concert series and festivals from coast-to-coast and performing in China, Taiwan, Israel, Romania, Germany and Hungary as well.  They also do clinics, master classes and community programs around the country.

Needless to say, there’s not a lot of music for this combo so, like No Exit, they commission a lot of pieces from working composers. At this concert at SPACES, they’ll play music by Hong-Da Chin, Chris Fisher-Lochhead, Shelley Washington, Quinn Collins, David Reminick and Emily Koh, all composed between 2010 and 2021. The oldest composer in the group is 42; the youngest just 30.

“Ogni Suono is a remarkable group that has developed their own unique language and repertoire,” says No Exit artistic director Tim Beyer. “Every time I’ve seen them perform it has been a really engaging experience.”

The concert is free and open to all; no reservation is required — but masks are.
