The Morgan Art of Paper Conservatory’s current shows, Leaves and Leaving, was created by members of Art Books Cleveland, before, during and after the COVID lockdown. It includes artist books, collages and other paper-based works to express ideas about both literal leaves and leaving things behind.

“Because of its varied structures, book art benefits from in-person viewing,” says ABC’s Bette Bonder. “Many of the pieces are intended to be held and manipulated: pages turn revealing new perspectives.”

But this show isn’t just something to come look at to admire other people’s works. They’re inviting visitors to participate. The Leave a Message Community Project invites people to come, take a leaf, write a message and put it in the basket. The message can be anything you want: a poem, a quote, a wish or hope, or a message to someone in particular.  They’ll be collected hung during the show. When it’s over, on Saturday November 20 @ 5-8pm, there’ll be a reception where the messages will be read aloud and the leaves burned in order to release them into the universe.

The Morgan is open Tuesday-Saturday @ 10am-4pm. It’s free to visit.
