Learn What’s Happening with Irishtown Bend Project at Public Presentation

Wed 10/13 @ 6PM

There’s been conversation for years about the land above the section of the Cuyahoga River known as Irishtown Bend, lying above West 25th Street south of the Detroit-Superior Bridge. This high ground, with cliffs and slopes leading down to the river, is unstable, which is why Ohio City Farm was built on the site of some demolished homes instead of a new development.

Now multiple organizations government and nonprofit have joined to lay out plans for stabilization, design, funding and development of the land for a 23-acre park for recreational use. Low-income housing on the land has already been demolished, leaving only a long-vacant two-story building with a billboard on top of it standing on the southeast corner of Detroit and West 25th, on the site where the developers hope to put an entry plaza.

Want to learn more? There’ll be an in-person and live streamed informational event taking place outside Merwin’s Wharf in the Flats to provide updates on the project and a Q&A session. You can also offer feedback at Near West Partners’ CoUrbanize page and subscribe for text updates at 216-242-4416
