Virtual Workshop Helps Aspiring Sci-Fi Writers Turn Ideas Into Reality

Mon 10/25 & Mon 11/1 @ 7-9PM

Do you spend time projecting what the world might be like in 50 or 100 or 500 years? Do you dream about other worlds beyond our world? And do you ever think idly that your ideas might make a good science fiction story or novel?

Don’t just dream — join the virtual two-evening science fiction writing workshop co-sponsored by Ursuline College and Lake Erie College.

The two-hour sessions will focus on the work of the late Cleveland writer Andre Alice Norton (1912-2005), a Collinwood High School graduate who worked for the Cleveland Public Library for 18 years. She went on to write science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, romance and historical fiction, including for what’s now known as a “young adult” market and sold millions of copies. The sessions will be led by science fiction writer Marie Vibbert, who will provide a presentation on Norton’s work for participants to discuss. They’ll then do two writing exercises to help create story ideas. The second session will focus on sharing those ideas and discussing them.

The workshop is free and open to the public but registration is required.
