Slovenian Sausage Festival Is Back at SNPJ Farm

Wed 9/15 @ noon-9PM

Head on out to the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland for a day of Slovenian culture, music, dance and especially, food, at the 17th Annual Slovenian Sausage Festival, hosted by the National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame.

That means polka overdose, of course: nine hours of music with ten polka orchestras and entertainers, including Hall of Famers. They include the orchestras of Polka Hall of Famers Frank Stanger and Kathy Hlad and such musicians as Frank Moravcik, Anthony Culkar, the Fairport Jammers, Ray Kovac, Bill Bevec, Rob DeBlander and Patty C and the Guys, along with an All-Star Band. You can also bring along your own banjo or accordion and jam.

Those polka musicians are going to have to work hard to compete with the food though. There’ll be several Slovenian smoked sausage makers competing for your favor, along with other traditional Slovenian dishes, desserts and drinks. Then head back out on the dance floor to work it all off with some vigorous polka-ing.

Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the gate, 18 and under are free. Order tickets at 216-261-FAME or 866-66-POLKA, or at PolkaShop@aol.com. Proceeds benefit the Polka Museum.
