PHOTOSTREAM: Intimations of Autumn at Lakefront Nature Preserve by Anastasia Pantsios

While foliage is mostly still green and trees are just starting to turn color, there’s a quality of light that’s different as we move into September. Stands and fields of goldenrod are in full bloom, reminding us of a grade school assembly song for September: “Goldenrod and aster/all your hands can hold/September wears a bonnet/of lavender and gold.” One last monarch butterfly feeds on a burst of white blossoms. The waves on the lake feel more restless. The sun sinks more quickly. Enjoy the changing seasons.
