New Book Combining Photos, Drawings & Writing Is Released at Busta Projects

Fri 9/24 @ 5-8PM

Jacob Koestler, whose film-and-photography-based mixed media work that frequently revolves around environmental issues has been shown at area venues such as SPACES, the Transformer Station and the Cleveland Print Room, has collaborated with Los Angeles-based writer Michael McDermit on a book called Strange Devotion.

The book is a blend of photo essay and fictional narrative “that exhumes the Appalachian Gothic tradition to examine the often misunderstood nuances of past and present life in the Rust Belt and Appalachia.” Koestler, who hails from Johnston, Pa., got his MFA at Ohio University and currently lives in Cleveland and teaches at the Cleveland Institute of Art, certainly knows the territory. The books also features poetry by Eric Schwerer and drawings by Noelle Richard.

William Busta Projects in the Waterloo Arts District is holding a book release party and opening reception with a book signing. It’s free open and to the public.
