Author Tells Her Story About Going to London to Find the Beatles in Music Box Program

Thu 9/23 @ 7PM

Forty-seven years ago, when she was just 16, Jan Mitchell and a friend attended the Beatles concert at Public Hall. A few days later, the duo ditched Cleveland Heights High School for London where they hoped to encounter the Beatles.

They didn’t, but they had several weeks of adventures before they were caught and shipped back to Cleveland. And the trip gave Mitchell a vision of a bigger, better future than she could see from her abusive childhood. Her book, My Ticket to Ride, has just been released on Cleveland imprint Gray & Co. And Mitchell herself, now living back in Cleveland after many years in New York, will be at the Music Box Supper Club to talk about her book, her adolescent adventures and why her getaway was about so much more than just the Beatles.

Doors open at 5pm for dinner; the program starts at 7pm. It’s free.
