Praxis Gallery Shows Work by Rising Fashion Designer

Fri 8/6 @ 6-8PM

Columbus-based fashion designer Xuena Pu joined Cleveland’s Praxis Fiber Workshop in October 2020 as its 2020-2021 Praxis Artist Fellow. She came a long way to get there.

She was born and raised in Kaifeng, China, where she learned traditional weaving techniques from her grandmother and macramé, crochet and Chinese knotting from her mother. After earning her masters degree in Business Administration from Central South University of China, she traveled all the way to Ohio to get her BFA in fashion design from Columbus College of Art and Design last May. She used the techniques she carried with her from her homeland in her first collection, Memories, part of Columbus Fashion Week 2020.

This Friday August 6, during Walk All Over Waterloo, her 2021 Emerging Artist Fellowship exhibition will go on view in the Praxis Gallery. It will feature 12 new dresses and traditional Chinese weaving and embroidery works, created during her time at Praxis.

The show will be on view through Sunday August 29 and can be seen during Praxis Gallery hours, Wednesday and Sunday @ noon-4pm.
