Loganberry Author Showcase Features Writers of Color

Sat 8/7 @ noon-4PM

Loganberry Books’ Author Alley, which typically takes place in early July, has become a popular meeting places for authors and their fans, as dozens of authors assemble in one place to sell and sign books and chat with readers.

They’re doing it a little differently this year. Instead of one big event, they’re hosting several smaller themed events, including the second annual  showcase for authors of color.

“Loganberry recognizes that writers of color face barriers in the literary world,” they say. “The BIPOC Author Showcase offers the reading community a unique opportunity to meet BIPOC literary artists, listen to their readings, and purchase their books.”

Among the writers are Echo Brown, author of Black Girl Unlimited and Bad Girls of the Bible, and LatinX poet Felicia Zamora, who won the 2020 Iowa Poetry Prize. Bring the kids too. There’ll be a special presentation of picture books and books for grade-school-aged kids with a focus on diversity, inclusive and positivity by authors such as Margaret Bernstein, Michael Samulak and Dr. Kate Foley.

On August 14, Loganberry will be hosting novelists and graphic artists; on August 21, meet nonfiction authors. All the showcases are free and open to all.
