Mentor Headlands BeachFest Is Back After Two Summers Off

Sat 7/17 @ 11AM-7PM

One of the true treasures of northeast Ohio is Mentor Headlands Beach State Park which features Ohio’s longest beach. And since 2014, it’s been celebrating Headlands BeachFest, a daylong party offering activities for all ages and types of people.

OK, not last year. And unfortunately, not the year before THAT due to Lake Erie’s high water levels in 2016.

But this year it’s back full steam. There’ll be live entertainment all day, including DJ Stray, the Jasmine Dragons Acrobats show and Bubble Magic, nearly a dozen food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and hands-on art activities. But best of all, there’ll be the Ohio Master Sand Sculpting Competition, where artists create intricate works well beyond a mere sand castle you can throw together yourself. Three world champion sand sculptors will be working on their creations for three days, starting on Thursday July 15 and completing them the afternoon of the event. Attendees will have the chance to vote for the winner.

And for those of you whole never progressed beyond the lowly sand castle, there’ll be the Family Sandcastle Building Contest — all ages welcome.

Parking and admission are both free.
