A host of pubic officials, civic leaders and neighbors gathered at Camp Cleveland on West 10th Street in Tremont Wednesday June 9 for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Towpath Trail’s Stage 4, a mile & a half section connecting Tremont and the Flats. (the entire trail is more than 100 miles long, running from New Philadelphia on the south to Lake Erie on the north). Speeches were made, backs were patted, Cleveland was compared to Elizabethian England and Ancient Greece, and the sun shone brightly on the industrial flats below.
