Martin Pizzarelli Trio Pays Tribute to Jazz Great Bucky Pizzarelli at Cleveland History Center

Thu 6/17 @ 6:30PM

Two great American jazz families lost their patriarch to COVID-19 last year. New Orleans pianist/educator Ellis Marsalis, who spawned four successful jazz musician sons, died in April 2020. That same month, New Jersey-based guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, who continued playing until 2018 when he was 92, passed away; he was the father of guitarist John and acoustic bassist Martin Pizzarelli.

The Martin Pizzarelli Trio is the next artist in the “A Little Night Music” series, taking place in the Hanna Courtyard Garden of the Cleveland History Center throughout June. With his regular collaborators Hyuna Park on keyboards and Linus Wyrsch on saxophone and clarinet, they’ll perform a tribute to Bucky Pizzarelli, a special program of tunes associated with his father put together by Martin Pizzarelli. With no guitar in the trio, they give their own unique treatment to the tunes.

General admission tickets are $25, $20 for WRHS members and include gallery access. Food and drink are available for purchase.
