Drive

Finally, we are in the driver’s seat.

If there’s one thing we learned during the pandemic, it’s that we don’t want to just go back to normal. Why? Normal wasn’t so great for a lot of folks. And now that the slate’s been cleaned, we have a once in a lifetime chance to recreate a better world. We just need to stay pointed in the right direction.

There’s no excuse not to celebrate Juneteenth, especially when CoolCleveland columnist Dru Thompson has rounded up the coolest parties, events and Zoom programs. It’s been a tough year, and Main Street Kent says, “Something’s Got To Give.” Ohio Arts Presenters Network is back with their annual conference in Cleveland this Fall, a hopeful sign that live performance is coming back. Tech Czar and podcasting entrepreneur Michael DeAloia just published a book on The Lost Department Stores of Cleveland.

Celebrate our water at the Cuyahoga River Rally with kayaking, music, art and tours. And if you love all the cool new murals around town, it’s time to rejoice. Graffiti HeArt is bringing Cleveland native WRDSMTH back from LA to paint about 15 more.

There’s a long road ahead. But we seem to be headed in the right direction. Just drive.
