Artist Talks About Her Work at Cleveland Print Room

Tue 6/22 @ 6:30PM

DaShaunae Marisa Jackson was a Cleveland Foundation Minority Arts and Education Fund grant recipient and a 2020 fellow at the Cleveland Print Room.

She has produced a body of work called No Woman Is An Island: Works by DaShaunae Marisa Jackson, which revolves around the death of her mother from cancer last May at the age of 49, and how that changed her complicated and often fraught relationship with her mother and her family. In her work, she reflects on how a lifestyle driven by society’s racism impacts the health of African Americans.

Jackson will give a talk at the gallery Tuesday June 23. Capacity for the free event is limited. Register here. The show will be on view through July 24.
