Two of NE Ohio’s Top Jazz Guitarists Stream Concert from the BOP STOP

Thu 5/13 @ 7PM

Two of the most prominent rising stars of the northeast Ohio jazz scene are guitarists/composers Dan Bruce and Dan Wilson.

Bruce is a transplant, who spent ten years as part of Chicago’s vibrant jazz scene where he released a couple of albums and performed on a couple of dozen as a sideman, before moving to northeast Ohio just a few years ago. Since then he’s taught at Tri-C and Youngstown State University and had his pieces performed by the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.

Akron native Wilson graduated from Hiram College and followed up his bachelor’s degree in music with a master’s from Youngstown State University, where he researched Brazilian music in Rio de Janeiro for his thesis. He’s also toured extensively with noted jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco, and released a trio of albums under his own name as well.

They’re joining forces for a duo performance at the BOP STOP where they’ll play arrangements of jazz standards as well as some of their own music. The livestream will be available on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page. It’s free to listen, but donations will be greatly appreciated and can be made here.
