Screw Factory’s Open House Is Back

Fri 5/7 @ 6-10PM

Sat 5/8 @ 10AM-4PM

We always have the best time at the open houses at the Screw Factory, aka the Lake Erie Building, in Lakewood. While the ground floor is still a working industrial building, the upper two floors are filled with artist studios and classrooms, small shops, fitness and dance studios and event spaces, with gorgeous light provided by those big industrial-style windows.

Unfortunately, last year wasn’t good for that. There was a scaled-down fall event, and the holiday open house was cancelled when Covid infections soared. But now they’re back. The two-day open house will feature about 30 of the resident artists and businesses, with everything from printmaking and painting, to ceramics and jewelry, to perfume, vintage items, woodworking and toys. There are even businesses offering coffee, spirits and BBQ sauce.

In addition, they’re bringing back some outside vendors into the Templar event space, with leather goods, candles, fiber art, blown and recycled glass, apparel and much more.

Masks are required and there’ll be plenty of hand sanitizer (as well as masks for anyone who forget theirs). It’s a big building so you should have no problem soial distancing. Bathrooms will be open. Admission is free, no reservation required.
