Loganberry Books’ Reading Series is Back Virtually with Spoken Word Artist Ray McNiece

Thu 5/13 @ 7:30PM

When you hear veteran Cleveland poet/musician Ray McNiece perform his poetry for an audience, it’s clear how his musical background infuses what he does. Other than hip-hop, he’s a rare spoken word artist who isn’t stuck in a declamatory style derived from the ’50s Beat poets. There’s an ease to his flow, a naturalness, a musicality that brings his words close.

Over the years he’s been a constant presence in town (when he’s not on the road, that is), doing theater and fronting musical ensembles, leading national poetry slam teams, doing workshops and classes, and always writing. He’s currently the Poet Laureate of Cleveland Heights and has recently put out a book of haiku called His Breath Burns Away, incollaboration with photographer Tim Lachina.

He’ll be the featured reader in Loganberry Books Broadsides & Ephemera series. Go here to grab the Zoom link.
