Akron’s Crafty Mart, which supports local artists and craftspeople, teaches its Maker Sessions, guiding creators toward turning their work into a real business with classes in such topics as financing, marketing and promotion, booth building and more.
The course’s capstone project is the Launch Market, taking place in the parking lot of Bounce Innovation Hub (where Crafty Mart’s permanent space is located) and R. Shea Brewing. There shoppers can check out what these up-and-coming makers are creating, while enjoying live music, a lemonade stand and a food truck. Masks are required. It’s the kickoff market of Crafty Mart’s season. As always at Crafty Mart markets, there’s no admission charge.
