SPACES Opens Three More Thought-Provoking Shows

Fri 4/16 @ 6PM

It’s spring and SPACES has a fresh new batch of shows for art lovers opening in its Hingetown space this week.

Reciprocity: Back Back Forth and Forth by Brooklyn, NY-based artist-in-residence Mildred Beltré is an ongoing exploration of text, textile and the Black body  which blends text, figure-based drawings, weaving, cross-stitch and beading in multimedia works “that employ domesticity as a means of examining equity and intersectionality.”

The Origin of Form, by Martha Poggiolo from Brisbane, Australia, whose residency ran from February 26-April 23, looks at the history of reproductive technology, drawing on the resources of the Dittrick Medical History Center and Sears think[box]at Case Western Reserve.

And Coming Suddenly, Passing Strangely is an online and in-person group exhibit of time-based art, curated by SPACES’ own Megan Young in collaboration with Chicago’s Columbia College.

SPACES will host an in-person opening on Friday April 16; masks and social distancing are required, and the amount of people in the gallery at one time will be limited. All three exhibits will be on view through Friday June 4.
