For the first time in four years, people who care about the environment are feeling a sense of hope. They’re excited by the initiatives they’ve seen the Biden administration roll out in a mere two weeks, and a couple of environmental groups have even sent our emails bidding farewell to one of their leaders — who just got a job in the administration.

But these groups are savvy enough to know that now the real work starts. Instead of just being opposition and trying to block damage, they can be more productive and see their efforts flourish.

The Alliance for the Great Lakes, which among other things sponsors those Lake Eric beach cleanups, writes, “A new Congress and a new President are off to a busy start. And the Alliance is hitting the ground running to make sure they follow through on the commitments they have made to clean water. There is work to do, and we need everyone pulling together to get the work done.”

Want to join them to help protect the health of the freshwater treasures known as the Great Lakes. They’re kicking off a four-part webinar series, starting with a live panel discussion Thursday February 11. They’ll be talking about their five top priorities for the Great Lakes and the opportunities they see to advance them.

Speakers include three of the Alliance’s own leaders — president/CEO Joel Brammier, COO/Vice President for Programs Molly Flanagan and Vice President for Policy & Strategic Engagement Crystal M.C. Davis — along with Chad Lord, policy director for Healing Our Waters—Great Lakes Coalition. Participants will be able to ask questions and interacts with panelists.

To register, go here. If you can’t make it, register anyway and they’ll send you the webcast to listen to later.
