There’s a new reason for a repeat visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Its popular Legends of Rock exhibit, featuring instruments, costumes and handwritten song drafts, has been expanded to cover four floors of the museum. It represents an even more diverse group of  more than 80 musicians who influenced the spectrum of rock & roll including jazz, soul, hip hop and folk  — you know, the ones who always evoke a response of “THAT’S not rock & roll” from some fans when their nominations for induction are announced!

Among the artifacts you’ll be able to see are the Cloud #2 Blue Angel Electric Guitar Prince used during the Purple Rain tour; the tambourine seen on Stevie Nicks’ Bella Donna album cover; a drum set played by Questlove of The Roots; Kurt Cobain’s Mosrite Gospel electric guitar; one of Jon Bon Jovi’s early Fender Stratocasters; and the self-painted 1967 “Love Drops” Gibson Flying V on which Jimi Hendrix recorded “All Along the Watchtower.”

Legends of Rock
got its start as a collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Legends of Rock called Rock Style, focusing on the influence of rock musicians on fashion. Since then the Rock Hall has expanded it and supplemented the costume element with other artifacts.

The Rock Hall is open seven days a week from 11am-5pm and 10am-6pm on Saturday.
