Fizz & Flash

There’s a thaw coming. But only after this deep freeze.

Meanwhile, we count our blessings and we count the days. On a good day, we’re lucky to see the sun flashing off the frozen ice. And we celebrate together as Oberlin presents five black composers, the Rock Hall screens the film Mr. SOUL!, DANCECleveland presents Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, Kink Contemporary shows the work of queer artists, and local leaders share justice initiatives at a City Club forum.

Speaking of justice, the queen of them all, the Notorious RBG, is honored in a major new exhibition at the Maltz. Fizz is the theme of the final week of the Akron Art Museum’s Midnight Blues. Enter the TwiBrite Zone with Brite Winter and experience homecoming.

A big thank you to those who voted and brought about such tremendous change. But with Republicans receiving only 52% of the vote in Ohio while claiming 75% of the congressional seats due to gerrymandering, the redistricting happening next year, along with a new law, means we have a chance to straighten it out. Stay in touch with the group All on the Line Ohio to keep the pressure on our legislators. It may not be flashy, but just like the last election, it works.  –Thomas Mulready
