Canton Museum of Art Invites Community to Help Create a “Garden”

Fri 2/5 @ 10AM-8PM

Sat 2/6 @ noon-4PM

The Canton Museum of Art celebrates First Friday this month — and for those of you with cabin fever, it’s actually in person. Of course, there are changes — no events that would cause a group to gather, and you must reserve your free timed ticket at cantonart.org/reservetickets.

First Friday also kicks off CMA’s community art project, “Project Bloom,” which will spend the month of February getting people in a spring state of mind. The free Project Bloom kit, which you can pick up at the museum, includes art materials and instructions on creating flowers to add to the museum’s mixed-media garden. After  that, kits will be available for pick-up during regular museum hours while supplies last. Learn more here.

You can also join the museum on Virtual Family Day — Saturday February 6 @ noon-4pm. Drop by the museum’s Facebook or Instagram page where they’ll share videos by artists showing how to create different types of flowers using materials you probably have right at home.  The museum will also be hosing in person “make and take” sessions Monday February 15, Tuesday February 16 and Wednesday February 17. Masks and social distancing are required.

Flower submissions to be part of the “garden” will be accepted through February 26. Learn more about Project Bloom here.
