Take Kids on a Storybook Hike Based on “The Snowy Day”

Mon 1/25-Sun 1/31 @ 6AM-11PM

Ezra Jack Keats’ picture book The Snowy Day has been a classic for several generations of children. Published in 1962, it won the prestigious Caldecott Medal, awarded to an outstanding picture book each year, in 1963, and was the first book with an African-American central character to do so. In the manner of picture books, its storyline is simple: kids wakes up to a snowfall and goes outside to play.

Summit Metro Park’s Liberty Park has used the book as the basis for a self-guided tour on its Bluebird Trail. It’s a fun family outing and an entertaining way to get the littlest kids outside and engaged as they explore the fun adventures Peter has in the snow. And if there’s snow in northeast Ohio, well, that will make it even more fun as the kids can emulate the activities in the book.

The Storybook Trail runs from January 25-31.
