“We’re pausing public hours and going virtual,” Summit Art Space posted in December. But the downtown Akron gallery hasn’t taken a pause from presenting shows. Its 17th annual juried exhibition Fresh opens virtually this week.
The show features new work created in 2020, which should produce some interesting pieces. And Summit Art Space was pushing for artists to present work that was stimulating, innovative and challenging — “fresh” as per the title of the show.
“Accepted artists will have pushed the boundaries of what art can be — stylistically, conceptually, or technically — and will challenge the viewer to see the world through a new lens,” they said in their call for submissions. “Accepted work will feature novel material, contemporary and unique conceptual thinking and demonstrate a high level of skill in the artist’s visual language.”
It runs through Saturday March 27.
