Heights Arts Show Addresses Racial Equity & Justice

“Sea of Cops” by Omid Tavakoli

Fri 1/22 @ 5-8PM

Heights Arts in Cleveland Heights opens the year with a pair of shows — one a group show, the other a solo exhibit.

In the group show, Posing the Question, artists confront this years headlines, as they respond to issues facing our country around racial justice and equity and look at how we as a nation have been addressing them (or not). The artists, who contribute photography, paintings and drawings, include Kenneth Bernstein, Kenn Hetzel, Matthew Deibel, MonaGazala, Scott Kraynak, Liz Maugans and Omid Tavakoli.

In addition, the gallery is opening a show of work by Helen Liggett, a photographer who teaches at Kent State University’s Architectural Studies Program. For her show she photographed women she knows during clay-making classes.

The shows open with a reception on Friday January 22 @ 5-8pm with ten visitors at a time scheduled for half-hour visits. The artists will do a Facebook livestream at 7pm. Both shows run through Sunday, March 14.
