Author Talks About His Book “Barnstorming Ohio”

Fri 1/22 @ noon

David Giffels made his name in northeast Ohio as a columnist for the Akron Beacon-Journal, back when people read newspapers. He then moved on to writing books, many of them personal and experiential: his six nonfiction books include a book about his father’s life and death, a book about rehabbing an old house, a couple of collections of essays, and his latest Barnstorming Ohio: To Understand America, another book taking the cultural/political temperature of the hinterlands but focused on Ohio.

He also co-wrote with Jade Dellinger a book about one of Akron’s most noted musical exports, Are We Not Men? We Are Devo!, and with Steve Love, Wheels of Fortune: The Story of Rubber in Akron. And he’s currently a professor of English at the University of Akron.

Giffels will join WKSU news director Andrew Meyer to talk about Barnstorming Ohio as part of the Akron Roundtable’s live virtual forum presentations. The program is free and no registration is required. Go here to access it.
