Karamu Offers a Joyful Celebration on Music & Dance Online

Through Sat 1/9

Karamu’s theater is known for its spectacular holiday shows such as Black Nativity. But the theater has been dark this year, and there’ll be no festive, social occasion, with live actors onstage and audience mingling in the lobby.

But they won’t leave their fans completely high and drive. For their first production of the 2020-2021 season, they’re offering the virtual Joyful, A Karamu Holiday Celebration. It might not be JUST like being in the theater but it will be a hour of singing and dancing and joyful roof-raising on both traditional and contemporary seasonal tunes from around the world.

“While the doors to our theatre remain closed to the public, Karamu House is still a place of joyful gathering,” they say. “So, this year instead, Karamu brings that place of joyful gathering into your home! You’re invited to unplug, turn off the news, and just sit back and relax — and let Karamu House’s talented singers, dancers and performers bring you joy with a special concert that celebrates this festive time of year.”

Tickets are $24.99, which gives you streaming access for your whole household for 48 hours. To buy them, go to karamuhouse.org. It’s available through January 9.
