The Chef’s Garden Offers Customers the Chance to Send Healthy Food to Hungry People

The Chef’s Garden in Huron is known for providing high-quality specialty merchandise to restaurants and chefs across the country. This year, responding to the pandemic, it’s expanded its outreach, offering vegetable boxes with seasonal produce to home chefs and aspiring chefs, as more people are cooking and eating at home.

Now it’s looking to expand even more to provide its healthy vegetables to those who can’t afford its boutique boxes at a time when more people are hungry and food banks and pantries are strained to the limit. Farmer Jones Farm of The Chef’s Garden is working with nonprofit food provides such as the Second Harvest Food Bank and Hunger Network to share its bounty.

It’s offering the customers who order a box of its fresh vegetables — customers who are generally well off and care about eating healthy — to also order a box to be donated to one of these organizations.

“Solving problems as complex as food waste and hunger requires us all,” explains Stacy Soulimiotis, Hunger Network’s Program Director. “We’re grateful for The Chef’s Garden and our entire community for rising up to the challenge and coming together to feed our people”
