So yeah, things didn’t work out as planned for the 2020 Rock Hall Inductions, scheduled for Cleveland last May and then moved to November, and then moved online as the country failed to contain the pandemic.

The ceremony will air as an HBO special on Saturday November 7 @ 8pm. You can tune in as the latest class, including Nine Inch Nails, who got their start in Cleveland, is inducted. They also include Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G., and T. Rex and industry inductees, supermanager Irving Azoff and Springsteen manager Jon Landau.

The roster of special events surrounding the induction, as part of Induction Week, has obviously had to be pared way back as well. But the Rock Hall is still offering some special programming, starting with a newly expanded inductee exhibit featuring artifacts from this year’s inductees, now on view at the Rock Hall.

On Thursday November 5 @ 3:30pm, Rock Hall Vice President of Education and Visitor Engagement Jason Hanley and SiriusAM’s Alan Light will talk to Landau about his work with Springsteen and prior to that, as a music journalist.  That same day @ 7pm, Hanley will talk with C.J. Wallace, son of The Notorious B.I.G. (whose induction is posthumous).

On Friday November 6 @ 2pm, journalist David Farrier will talk to Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor,  Alessandro Cortini, Robin Finck, Danny Lohner, Atticus Ross, Ilan Rubin and Chris Vrenna about their 30-year career.

All these conversations are free on the Rock Hall’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. That’s where you can also watch the official red-carpet live stream starting at 6:45pm on Saturday November 7. Host Carrie Keagan will interview guests both live and pre-recorded and show behind-the-scenes footage.
