New Beck Center Art Show Features Hopeful, Uplifting Work

Painting by Eileen Dorsey

Fri 12/4-Sun 2/28/21

Recently, the Beck Center for the Arts solicited submissions from artists, asking the look at nature from a fresh perspective: to “celebrate the beauty of natural and spontaneous scenes” and “present works depicting movement, color, light, and everyday scenes with new purpose.” The goal was to present images that would be uplifting and encouraging during the long pandemic siege.

From those submissions, a panel of jurors chose three artists for a new exhibition at the Beck Center called Spontaneity Alive. They include Eileen Dorsey, whose colorful landscapes at well-known to the many visitors who stop by her studio at 78th Street Studios on Third Fridays; she’s also recently been doing a lot of murals, making her work even more prominent.  Katherine Check is an artist/educator who founded Flourishing Flamingo Arts to encourage people of all types to make art. And Danielle Goins does expressive portraits that often have a humorous edge. Their work goes on view this Friday December 4, and will remain up through February 28, 2021. The gallery is open Monday-Friday @ 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.
