Main Street Kent Offers Digital Holiday Concert With 18 Local Acts

Wed 11/25-Fri 1/1/21

There won’t be very many holiday concerts of any kind this year, whether it’s the Cleveland Orchestra’s traditional run of pops-oriented family concerts, the annual appearance of holiday band the Ohio City Singers, or vocalists jazzing up traditional carols at Nighttown (which has just announced it’s hibernating until the spring).

But Main Street Kent has come up with a little something to fill the gap: a digital concert called Home for This Holiday, featuring 18 area bands and musicians who frequently perform in and around Kent, doing some favorite holiday tunes.

Performers include Roger Hoover, David Mayfield, Sarah Benn & Kevin Martinez (Shivering Timbers), Jen Maurer (Mo’ Mojo), Randy Horvath, Erik Urycki & Gretchen Pleuss (The Speedbumps), Brent Kirby, Angie Haze, Cory Grinder Band, Doug McKean (Boys from County Hell), Jon Mosey, John Patrick Halling (Outside Voices), Dan Socha & Bethany Svoboda, City of Invention, Memphis Cradle, Flat Earth Ramblers, Petersilge Sisters and Ray Flanagan. Hoover took the responsibility for weaving the separately recorded performances together to form a coherent evening of music.

A minimum donation of $10 to benefit Main Street Kent and Kent Social Services will get you a link to the digital concert, which will be emailed on Wednesday November 25, so you’ll have it in time for Thanksgiving, the traditional start of 24-hour Christmas carols. The show will be available for viewing through January 1. Go here to buy your tickets, which are available now.
