Digital Workshop Explores the “Social Unconscious”

Sun 11/29 @ 11AM

FRONT International Triennial, which pushed its planned second iteration from next year to 2022, is hosting programming to engage people now instead of just waiting for the big event in the summer of 2022.

One of those programs is an online “participatory workshop” called Present!, which they describe as “part virtual seminar, part talk show, part Sunday sermon.” It was started early in the pandemic in order to bring people together and counteract the feelings of isolation many people experienced.

They’re calling this month’s edition, led by Los Angeles psychologist/psychoanalyst George Bermudez with artist Connie Samaras, a “social dreaming matrix.” It will look at the “social unconscious” and the “collective sharing of dreams,” and what dreams say about our contemporary society. It’s in keeping with the theme of the upcoming edition of FRONT: looking at art as an agent of healing and transformation.

The event is free and open to all; advance registration is a must. Go here.
