Playwrights Local Series Presents Free Reading of a New Work

Thu 10/29 @ 7PM

Playwrights Local was founded to offer an outlet and feedback for new works in development, mostly by northeast Ohio playwrights, as its name suggests. So it presents work in all stages of development. In the next several weeks, it’s offering a look at a number of new works in readings via Zoom, in collaboration with the Young Playwrights Collective.

On Thursday October 29, it will present The Storm by Lakewood playwright EJ Dahl, directed by Brooke Turner. It draws on a familiar theater/film trope: a group of characters stuck in a situation together, unfolding and revealing hidden truths. In The Storm, it’s camp counselors at “Youghiogheny Christian Camp” taking a break from their campers who are trapped in a storm when “an unexplained voice is heard over a walkie-talkie.”
