September is National Recovery Month, and Akron’s The Summit FM (WAPS-FM 91.3 Akron-Canton/90.7 Youngstown) is honoring it with Rock and Recovery programming to increase awareness of mental heath and substance abuse issues and the help available to overcome them.
All during September, The Summit will feature on-air interviews with program director/air personality Brad Savage, Monday through Friday during the 4pm hour, with members of the local recovery/mental health services community. Seven nights a week from 10pm-1am, air personality Garrett Hart (pictured with Rock and Recovery volunteers) continues the Rock & Recovery programming with upbeat music and messages intended to uplift ad inspire.
The station is also hosting Recovery Talks — The Podcast featuring guitarist Marc Lee Shannon of Michael Stanley’s band with guests — including world-class musicians, business leaders and community members, talking about their own journeys with recovery.
In addition, the Summit is providing online resources from Rock & Recovery program director Garrett Hart in conversation with celebrities, athletes, authors, judges, therapists, veterans, recovery coaches and others with stories about recovery from substance use, eating disorders, mental health issues, PTSD, grief and loss, sex addiction sex trafficking, and gambling.
