Cleveland Cinemas Brings Back 2018 Documentary “RBG”

Opens Fri 9/25

In 2018 the documentary RBG was released, detailing the life and career of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as her emergence as a pop culture hero. The film, which was nominated for an Oscar as Best Documentary Feature and named 2018’s best documentary by several groups, detailed both her serious side — her commitment to equal justice under the law — and her lighter side — how she leaned into being called “The Notorious RBG,” a takeoff on the late rapper the Notorious B.I.G.

Needless to say there’s a LOT of interest in seeing the film again right now, and if you’d like to watch it with a room full of sniffing, weeping people (some cursing Mitch McConnell under their breaths), you’re in luck. The Cedar Lee Theatre in Cleveland Heights and Chagrin Cinemas are bringing it back for a return engagement, starting September 25. (It will also be available in Cleveland Cinemas virtual screening room if you’d like to cry alone.)

Magnolia Pictures, the film’s distributor is donating the profits from this engagement to the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, co-founded by Ginsburg in 1972, and needed now more than ever.

Tickets to the in-theater screenings are $5; tickets for the virtual home screening are $6.99. The theaters will be observing safety protocols including requiring mask-wearing except when eating or drinking. So if you have an RBG mask, how’s the time to wear it!
