Chef Rocco Whalen Hosts Online Cooking Demo for County Library Programs

Fri 9/25 @ 7-8PM

Cleveland’s star chefs are mostly not operating their establishments at full volume these days. But many of them have found alternative ways to keep busy, including lending a helping hand to good causes.

Rocco Whalen of the Tremont eatery Fahrenheit is the latest of these, hosting a live online cooking demonstration and silent auction to benefit youth literacy programs at the Cuyahoga County Public Library.

He’s put together Flourish Food Kits that you can order, containing all the ingredients to make pan-fried chicken breast with roasted asparagus and stir-fry corn (you can also substitute tofu for the chicken). The regular kit feeds four, while Florish Host Kits feed 12. Kids include wine. Orders must be placed by September 21; and they’re available for pick-up Thursday September 24 and Friday September 25 at either the Fairview Park branch or Beachwood branch of the library.

Even if you miss out on the kit, you can join the demo and online auction, with premiums ranging from a set of Goodyear tires to a concert in your home by Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra. And of course you can make a donation. Go here.
