The Akron Art Museum’s online series Coffee With the Collection looks at the stories behind various works in the museum’s collection. This month it explores “what happens when government and art mix?” Research assistant Katie DiDomenico will dig into its collection of Depression-era prints that were part of the federal government’s project to provide funding and jobs for artists, and look at how that funding source impacted the work created. She’ll be using examples from northeast Ohio artists such as Massillon’s Russell T. Limbach (whose work is pictured), Kálmán Kubinyi and Honoré Guilbeau.
It’s free for members, $5 for non-members. Go here to register.
