GroundWorks DanceTheater Holds Pop-Up Drive-In Performances

Sat 8/15 @ 8:30 & 10PM

GroundWorks DanceTheater’s NextSpace series of summer activities includes online classes and conversations. But it also includes a couple of live pop-up performances in alternative spaces — drive-in performances where cars will be arranged in a circle around the performers, lit by their headlights. So it’s almost like you’re part of the show! The performances will feature the world premiere of a new duet called ‘Jigsaw,” created by GroundWorks’ executive artistic director David Shimotakahara.

The first performances will take place in the rear parking lot of the Agora of Prospect just west of East 55th Street. Reservations are required, and you better hurry because the 8:30pm show is sold out. There are still openings at the 10pm performance. There is no ticket fee, but there’s a suggested donation of $25 per car, with no limit on the number of people in a car.

They’ll also be “popping up” in Akron for a pair of performances on Saturday August 22 with location to be announced.
