The Two-Day Summer Market Moves to Lorain’s Black River Landing

Back in 2006, two women started the Avon Summer Market, which took place in a park near Lake Erie. It featured a curated group of vendors offering vintage finds, handmade goods and locally produced edibles in a beautiful setting, sort of a Cleveland Flea before there was a Flea. Later on, they founded the nonprofit Girls Give Back to direct the event’s proceeds toward local organizations and families in need.

Recently, changes have been afoot. Late last year, they hosted the first Winter Market for holiday shopping. Earlier this year, it launched its online Marketplace to give its vendors a boost. And now the Summer Market has made a big move: it will take place for the first time at Black River Landing in Lorain on the banks of the Black River.

It will still feature more than 100 vendors, mostly from northeast Ohio, with collectibles, crafts, original art, gift items and more. This year, it will also include a farmers market, a beer garden, live music on the concert stage and a wide sweep of grass to spread out blankets and enjoy some food and drink between browsing the stalls. Vendors will be wearing masks, guests are advised to do so, booths will be spaced ten feet apart, and there will be hand sanitizer at every booth.

The event is free, and there’s free parking. It happens rain or shine.
