State Rep. Candidate Joan Sweeny Has a Virtual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser — with Real Spaghetti

Thu 7/9 @ 5:30-7:30PM

Last week, we shared with you an interview with Joan Sweeny, who is running for the state House of Representatives in District 7, which includes Berea, Strongsville, North Olmsted, Olmsted Township and North Royalton.

The Lakewood native, who currently lives in Berea, served in the Army for 25 years. She said, “When we moved back to Ohio I saw our legislature, with its one-party rule, was out of balance. The more I would read and pay attention, the more I saw Ohioans just not being represented. It was too one-sided.”

She hopes to flip the seat from Republican to Democrat, helping to bring a more representative balance to the Statehouse, where currently Republicans have an outsized number of seats relative to the number of votes they get.

Read more in our interview, and if you like what you heard, you can help support her by joining her “Spaghetti for Sweeny” fundraiser on Zoom. She’ll be joined by other local officials, including state senator Nickie Antonio of Lakewood and there’ll be an opportunity to ask her questions. Those who donate $25 or more will be able to get a free spaghetti dinner delivered to their home via no-contact delivery.

Get your tickets here to join the Zoom event.
