Online Course Looks at Portrayal of Nazis in Film

The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and CWRU’s Siegal Lifelong Learning Program are offering a fascinating course with relevant to some of what we are seeing happening right now in our country.

Over four successful Thursdays, “Nazis on the Silver Screen” will analyze four noted films about Nazi Germany, made over more than 60 years, looking at the history and context behind the and how accurately they depict the reality of that history. The films include 1935’s Triumph of the Will, a notorious Nazi propaganda film by legendary filmmaker and Hitler cohort Leni Riefenstahl; the 1940 Charlie Chaplin satire The Great Dictator; 1981 German war film Das Boot; and 1997 Italian film Life Is Beautiful.
