Akron Band Red Rose Panic Broadcasts Concert from Jilly’s

Sat 7/11 @ 7:30-8:30PM

Akron Soul Train and Jilly’s Music Room on Akron’s Northside, have collaborated to bring listeners a live broadcast of Akron quintet Red Rose Panic, who blend jazz, rock, funk and hip hop. Formed in 2013, by frontman Alan Manley Jr aka Luminari and guitarist/producer Styxx, the group has traveled around the Midwest, performed in LosAngeles and New York, and headlined Akron’s annual Highland Square PorchRokr festival.

Luminari was recently awarded an Akron Soul Train artist residency.

“My Akron Soul Train residency couldn’t have come at a better time, right in the middle of a pandemic when live performing artists needed assistance more than ever,” he says. “The residency aided with the upgrade of our technological platforms, so that we were able to share and develop our music without physically being present. We’ve got over 10-12 songs that we were able to retool and prep for release.”

Among those tunes is “Fear,” a collaboration with Akron funk/fusion band Acid Cats, which addresses the unjust treatment facing people of color.

They’ll be sharing some of the new music during the broadcast performance which you can see at jillysmusicroom.live on Saturday, July 11th at 7:30pm.  It’s free but it you’d like to tip the band or buy merch, go here.
