NOACA Holds Public Meeting Clean Water Act Changes Impacting NE Ohio

Wed 7/1 @ 1PM

One of northeast Ohio’s greatest assets is its lake —part of the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth. With such a supply of fresh water, it’s an asset that deserves the greatest of care, something the Clean Water Act of 1972 — passed partly in response to the Cuyahoga River fire on 1969 — strives to do.

The act requires planning agencies create and update plans to address water pollution and assure the quality of the water in lakes, rivers and streams. The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) is the planning agency for Northeast Ohio, and they’re currently looking for comments on the latest update to its work on water qualify, Clean Water 2020, which addresses sewage waste management and nonpoint source pollution management.

If you are a concerned citizen who’d like to know more about the work being done to protect our waterways, join the virtual public meeting on Wednesday July 1 from 1-2pm. You’ll hear a synopsis of the plan and how it’s change from the previous plan, and there’ll be time to ask questions and make comments.

To join the meeting, register here.
