On the second Tuesday of each month, writers and actors normally fill Cleveland Public Theatre’s The Church at CPT facility for the Dark Room open mic. Writers bring work of any type, to be read by whatever actors show up who are cast on the spot.
By the first Tuesday of April things had changed and the Dark Room became the Zoom Dark Room. The process for submission changed and is changing a bit more in its second month. Since organizer Mindy Herman had to turn away several writers in April because all the slots were full she’s pushing up the deadline to Wednesday May 6 at 6pm to submit up to ten pages of new work. She’ll put the names in a hat and pull them out to assign the slots randomly. The deadline for actors is Thursday May 7 at 6pm.
In addition, she’s doubling the frequency of the Dark Rooms for all you bored people out there. They’ll be held May 26, June 9 and June 23.
The zoom meeting starts at 7:15pm, with readings from 7:30-9pm and a feedback session to follow. If you’d like to just listen and watch, RSVP to Mindy at the same address and she’ll send you the meeting info.
